Compliance and Mediation

Abstract
Developing effective ethics and compliance programs against corruption is a challenge facing European public and private sector organizations. The obligation to establish channels for reporting irregularities or non-compliance with European regulations (criminal, civil and administrative) will entail managing conflicts and regularizing many counter-verses. Technology can help to manage compliance programs but its also important to use mediation. Mediation and ADR mechanisms can serve as a perfect complement to compliance systems. It is not only a matter of compliance with legal obligations, but also a seal of quality for European companies and organizations. Investigating both institutions is a new line of research at the University of Cantabria.
