Mathematical modelling of multiple myeloma progression

Abstract

Multiple myeloma behaves as a dynamic complex system exhibiting self-organization.
This project will combine analysis of bio-medical data, principles of ecology and mathematical modelling of
systems dynamics. The aims are to:
1) Describe mathematically the evolution of MM in the form of a dynamical model, where the configuration of the system is represented by a set of extensive variables, and the evolution of the configuration is ruled by a complex network of crossed-linked controls and loops
2) Develop a simulator of the cancer behavior, with the final purpose of providing the models and tools to analyze the dynamics of cancer evolution and identifying systemic leverage points that could become novel therapeutic targets.
