Power electronic converters connected to modern grids

Abstract
Present synchronization systems, both Phase Locked Loop (PLL) and Frequency Locked Loops (FLL), for digital control of single-phase AC-DC converters, both unidirectional and bidirectional, will be studied, considering their effect on both the LV distribution power grid and the Near-zero energy buildings (nZEB) residential grid and industrial environment. New synchronization strategies with low computational burden will be proposed that can facilitate the adoption of grid schemes , considering both the LV distribution power grid side and grids formed by GFM inverters. The stability of the power distribution system resulting from the connection of multiple single-phase converters with different synchronization systems and operating modes will be studied, considering nZEB buildings. Progress will be made in the study of offset and noise compensation of voltage and current acquisition, as well as in the improvement of digital control strategies taking into account nZEB buildings, where the proliferation of power conversion stages can increase this type of effects. The effect of the proposed solutions will be studied both on the LV distribution power grid side and on the residential side, both in unidirectional and bidirectional converters. The proposed synchronization systems will be evaluated with simulation models and experimentally validated with laboratory prototypes.
